Established in 1981, SNAICC – National Voice for our Children is the national non-government peak body for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. SNAICC’s vision is that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and families are protected, our communities determine their own futures, and our cultural identity is valued. We work to amplify the voice of community and the sector for the fulfilment of the rights of our children. 

SNAICC plays a key role in the following areas: 

  • Research and policy development, with high-level leadership, policy and sector representation 

  • Training and resource design, development and delivery including topics such as early childhood development, partnerships, family support, trauma, and cultural competency. 

  • Support for sector development, membership, and networking. 

Job Description

  • Full Time – 76 hours per fortnight 
  • Fixed term – 2 Years 
  • Location – Flexible (Melbourne preferred)
  • Salary – $144,467 - $151,066 + 12% super & salary packaging options

The Position:

Reporting to the Director, Governance and Special Projects, the Membership Manager is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving SNAICC’s membership engagement, growth and value proposition. A key focus of this role is to design and lead comprehensive, national membership engagement initiatives moving beyond ad-hoc or issue-specific consultations to establish continuous, broad-based dialogues with Aboriginal community-controlled organisations (ACCOs) and other key stakeholders.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Broad knowledge and understanding of human rights and issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families, and a commitment to the rights, needs and aspirations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families.
  • Proven experience in a membership, administration, or customer service role, preferably within the Not-For-Profit sector.
  • High-level capability with process design and detail, including the ability to analyse data from internal systems (such as CRMs) to drive strategic decision-making and improve member services.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, process high volumes of administration, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor engagement to diverse audiences and handle enquiries with diplomacy.
  • Proven ability to make strategic connections across different business units within an organisation, translating member feedback into actionable insights for policy reform, advocacy, and project teams.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability and the ability to negotiate successful outcomes in potentially challenging circumstances.
  • Excellent relationship management skills with a persuasive, influencing approach to confidently promote SNAICC’s value proposition, acquire new members, and retain existing ones.
  • Strong project management skills, with the demonstrated ability to design, coordinate, and execute large-scale stakeholder consultations, such as jurisdiction round tables and listening tours.
  • Basic understanding of invoicing and accounts receivable processes.
